Site Visit to Bhandewadi Wastewater Treatment Plant, Nagpur

Department of Civil Engineering organizes a Site visit to Bhandewadi Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in Nagpur on January 31, 2026. The objective of a visit was to study various conventional wastewater treatment processes. A key facility for wastewater management, handling sewage from the city and supplying treated water to industrial users. The plant, located near the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) dumping ground at Bhandewadi, was commissioned through a collaboration between NMC and Maharashtra State Power Generation Company (MAHAGENCO). It has a total installed capacity of 130 MLD, fully utilized, with design flexibility for up to 200 MLD including overload provisions. Treated effluent primarily supports cooling at Koradi Thermal Power Plant, reusing 130 MLD daily to address water scarcity challenges. Site visit was organized for IV semester Civil Engineering students. Mr. Anshul Zodape and Mr. Ahsan Sufi, STP managers guided the students on the complete working of the plant.
