Site Visit to Gorewada Water Treatment Plant, Nagpur
The Gorewada Water Treatment Plant (WTP), located near Gorewada Lake in Nagpur, serves as a key facility for the city's drinking water supply, with a capacity of 136 MLD. Raw water is primarily sourced from the Pench River and Kanhan River via interconnected systems, including gravity mains from balancing tanks. The plant processes approximately 75% of Nagpur's total water demand. Site visit was organized on January 31, 2026 for IV semester Civil Engineering students. The objective was to study various conventional water treatment processes.
Total of 57 Nos. of students participated in the site visit. Mr. Nikhil Kalbande, WTP manager guided the students on the complete working of the plant. The visit was coordinated by Prof. Akash A. Kaley and Prof. Mrs. Kusum S. Balani.
