Industrial Visit to Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Nagpur

The Department of Computer Engineering successfully organized an Industrial Visit for second-year students (Section A & B) to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Nagpur on 22nd August 2025, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A total of 121 students enthusiastically participated in this visit.

The visit was coordinated and led by faculty members:

  • Dr. Pallavi Wankhede – IIIC Department Incharge
  • Dr. Reema Roychaudhary – Faculty Coordinator & Class Incharge
  • Prof. Kavita Meshram – Section A Incharge
  • Prof. Sandhya Dghage – Section B Incharge

The primary objective of the visit was to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real-world applications by exposing students to the practical aspects of meteorology. At RMC, students were welcomed by experts who provided valuable insights into the functioning of the centre and its crucial role in weather monitoring and forecasting.

Students had the opportunity to observe and learn about sophisticated meteorological instruments, including weather radars, automatic weather stations, and satellite imaging systems. The demonstration helped them understand how data is collected, analyzed, and processed for accurate weather predictions. In addition, they were introduced to the forecasting process, which highlighted the complexities of climate monitoring, disaster management support, and real-time weather reporting.

The visit proved to be highly enriching, as it enhanced students’ technical knowledge, practical exposure, and awareness of interdisciplinary applications of computer engineering in the field of meteorology. Such initiatives not only broaden academic horizons but also inspire students to explore diverse career opportunities.
