The Department of Mechanical Engineering, under the supervision of Dr. Manish Bhadke, Prof. Namrata Nagpurkar, Prof. Pramod Borle, Prof Anthony Augustine, Prof. Shantanu Kolharkar organised an industrial visit to Shivam Foods, Umred Road, Nagpur, on 5th July 2025 for the students of 3rd semester Mechanical Engineering.

"Shivam Foods" manufactures Parle-G biscuits and cookies in Nagpur, Maharashtra.

The students were given an orientation session about the industry profile through a video documentary, which also detailed the steps of the production process. Later, Mr. Ajay Petkar of Shivam Foods guided the students through the plant gallery during the visit. The students had the opportunity to witness every step of the process, from mixing the ingredients to making dough, moulding, heating, cooling, and packaging at the plant.

The visit was a unique learning opportunity for the students, where their active participation was key. It provided them with a comprehensive understanding of the automation and control of the food process industry. This firsthand experience, which they actively sought, enriched their knowledge and gave them a deeper insight into the intricacies of the industry.
