A Workshop on Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) for 6G at VNIT, Nagpur

The Department of Industrial IoT made arrangements to send five students, along with Prof. Rajeshwari Shinde, to attend the workshop on Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) for 6G, held at VNIT, Nagpur, from 24th to 29th March 2025. The workshop provided an insightful exploration into cutting-edge advancements in wireless communication.

Experts from various institutions shared their research on RIS applications, including “Machine Learning for Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (RIS)-Assisted IoT Networks” by Dr. Rajesh Hegde from the Indian Institute of Kanpur, and “RIS-Aided Cell-Free Massive MIMO in 6G Networks” by Dr. Sravani Kurma from Michigan State University, USA. The discussions on energy-efficient designs, smart city applications, and ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC) highlighted the practical implications of these technologies.

Engaging sessions by distinguished researchers fostered a deeper understanding of the evolving landscape of 6G networks. It was a valuable experience to learn from leading experts and witness innovative ideas shaping the future of communication.
