Site Visit at “Gosikhurd Dam and Suspension Bridge Ambhora”

The site visit was organized for the IV and VI semester students of the Civil Engineering Department, SVPCET, Nagpur, at Gosikhurd Dam located in Pauni, Bhandara and Suspension Bridge at Ambhora on 21 February 2025. The visit aimed to provide students with practical insights into dam construction and water management from a civil engineering perspective. A total of 125 students participated in the visit, accompanied by 08 faculty members, Dr. Satish Kene, Prof. Ram P.Kinhikar, Prof. Yogesh Lanjewar, Dr. Suyog U.Dhote, Prof. Akash A.Kaley, Prof. Kusum S. Balani, Prof. Rohit N. Bhosle and Mr.Yogesh Uprikar.
The site visit provided crucial information about the fundamentals of a dam and their application, insight into the multi-disciplinary nature of dam construction and management, details of infiltration galleries and canal, the role of dams in water resource management, agricultural development, and sustainable energy generation.
The site visit was an enriching experience for the students. It provides them with valuable practical knowledge and exposure to the complexities of the dam and its management. The visit was made possible through the coordination and support of the dam authorities, such learning opportunities play a crucial role in shaping the future engineers and professionals in the field of civil engineering.
