Alumni Talk for MS Preparation

Department of Civil Engineering organized an Interaction with alumni on October 15, 2024, for final year students. The focus was on higher education opportunities, the importance of academic & practical learning. The alumni interaction aimed to provide guidance to students aspiring to pursue a Master of Science (MS) degree abroad. The session focused on understanding the MS application process, university selection, research opportunities, scholarships, and cultural adaptation in a global setting.

The session began with an introduction of the alumnus, Mr.Shantanu Wahane, a graduate of the Civil Engineering Department at St. Vincent Pallotti College of Engineering & Technology, Nagpur who is pursuing Master’s in Environmental Science & Engineering, University of Aveiro. Mr. Shantanu Wahane  provided a detailed explanation of the steps involved in the MS application process like researching universities & shortlisting based on specialization and rankings, preparing for standardized tests like GRE/TOEFL/IELTS, crafting an impactful Statement of Purpose (SOP) and obtaining strong Letters of Recommendation (LOR) and Understanding application timelines and deadlines.

Students enthusiastically participated in the Q&A session. The activity was coordinated by Prof. Yogesh S. Lanjewar and Dr. Satish D. Kene.
