Industrial Visit to Khaperkheda Thermal Power Station Nagpur

The Department of Mechanical Engineering organized a visit to Khaperkheda Thermal Power Station,  Nagpur on 22Nd  October 2024 (Tuesday) for the 5th  & 7Th semester students.

The visit was intended to explore the layout and working of a power plant, various sections like plant control room, turbine & generator room, boiler, air supply system, fuel supply system, exhaust gas after treatment systems, condenser, cooling tower etc..  The visit provided a total of 50 students and four faculty members, an enriching and invaluable experience.

Khaperkheda Thermal Power Station is a 500 MW power plant located in Khaperkheda village of Saoner tahsil in Nagpur district.

The visit to the plant was carried out under the guidance of Dr. Pankaj Dharaskar and his colleague who explained the different processes and machines involved in the generation of power such as a coal handling system, ash handling system. He also enlightened students about the future prospects of mechanical engineering. The chief engineer highlighted the internship opportunities provided by MAHAGENCO, also shared that future is bright for students of mechanical engineering.

Students were able to see the working of various systems.  The visit was coordinated by  Dr. Brijendra Singh Bhaskar and Dr. Vimal Chand Sontake.
