Civista 5.0- A Departmental Technical Program

The Department of Civil Engineering, in association with the Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) Student Chapter, organized Civista 5.0 on October 5, 2024. Civista is an annual technical event aimed at fostering technical knowledge, innovation, and collaboration among civil engineering students. It serves as a platform for students to showcase their technical skills and engage in problem-solving activities.

The program commenced with a welcome address to the chief guest, Er. Bhagwat Patil, Secretary of ICI-Nagpur Centre & Director Technical at Avaneesh Buildcare Pvt. Ltd. This was followed by an introduction to Civista 5.0 and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries.

Mr. Updesh Bhoyar, Coordinator of Civista 5.0, provided a brief introduction to the four activities that were part of the event. Dr. Abhay G. Hirekhan, Head of the Civil Engineering Department, emphasized the importance of organizing such programs and highlighted the role of each student in fostering connections within the civil engineering community. Prof. Yogesh S. Lanjewar, Faculty Coordinator, introduced the chief guest, Er. Bhagwat Patil. In his inspiring speech, the guest highlighted key aspects of civil engineering careers, particularly retrofitting, scaffolding, teamwork, and ethical practices, motivating students to embrace their responsibilities. He also shared real-life experiences in the field of civil engineering.

Ms. Megha Bawanthade, co-coordinator of Civista 5.0, served as the Master of Ceremony (MOC). The inaugural program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Harsh Bitpure, co-coordinator of Civista 5.0.

A total of 282 students participated in the four activities of Civista 5.0. This year’s activities included Cad-Venture, Bridge-A-Ton, Escape If You Can, and Squid Game. The winners of all activities were felicitated with certificates and cash prizes. Ms. Deeksha Wankhede served as the MOC during the valedictory program, and Ms. Megha Bawanthade proposed a formal vote of thanks
