The Department of Civil Engineering inaugurated the Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) Students Chapter on September 19, 2024, marking a new era in student leadership for the academic year 2024-25.

The program commenced with a welcome to the chief guest, Er. Pravin P. Deshpande, Chairman of ICI-Nagpur Centre & Director at SPD Infra Consultants Pvt. Ltd. This was followed by an introduction to ICI and a ceremonial lighting of the lamp by dignitaries.

Dr. Abhay G. Hirekhan, HoD, Civil, emphasized the importance of leadership and the role of the new executive body in connecting students, faculty, and industry. Fr. Dr. Paul Chandrankunnel, Director congratulated the department and encouraged students to maximize their involvement. Institute mentor Prof. R.B. Gowardhan highlighted the significance of innovative techniques in structural development. Dr. Vijay Wadhai, Principal, discussed the benefits of membership for internships and job opportunities. The executive body was announced, and badges were distributed.

Prof. Yogesh S. Lanjewar, Faculty Coordinator, introduced the chief guest Er. Pravin P. Deshpande. In his inspiring speech the guest highlighted on civil engineering careers, particularly in bridge design, teamwork, and ethical practices, motivating students to embrace their responsibilities.

Ms. Sagrika Dahat served as the MOC, and the event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Shreyash Patil, President of the ICI Students Chapter.
