Industrial visit to MSRTC Central workshop MIDC Hingna, Nagpur

On August 27, 2024, 58 students from the 5th semester, enrolled in the Open Elective-I course in Automobile Engineering, undertook an industrial visit to the MSRTC Central Workshop located at MIDC Hingna, Nagpur. The visit was supervised by Dr. Sushant S. Satputaley, Dr. G. R. Boob, and Prof. S. M. Umre. The visit spanned from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

The MSRTC workshop at MIDC Hingna is a public sector facility serving the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation. The Workshop Superintendent, Mr. Ingle, provided guidance throughout the visit. The workshop is divided into three main sections: the Engine Section, the Fuel Pump Repair and Calibration Section, and the Coach Section where bus bodies are constructed.

During the visit, students gained comprehensive insights into various aspects of automobile engineering:

  • Engine Section: Observed the engine assembly and disassembly processes.
  • Fuel Pump Section: Learned about the different types of fuel pumps used in MSRTC buses, along with their repair and calibration.
  • Coach Section: Understood the bodywork techniques and procedures involved in constructing bus coaches used for passenger transport.

This visit allowed students to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. By seeing the construction and functioning of automobile components firsthand, students enhanced their understanding of the systems involved in automobile engineering. The experience provided valuable context and practical insights that will support their learning and future professional endeavors in the field.
