FDP on “Awareness on AI & DS: AI based Tools and Techniques for OBE”- PART-II

The Department of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence jointly organised the second part of the Faculty Development Program (FDP) on "Awareness on AI & DS: AI-based Tools and Techniques for OBE" on 12th, 13th, and 15th June 2024. This segment focused on the essentials of research, review paper writing, and practical applications of AI tools in scientific writing. Renowned experts in the field conducted the sessions, providing valuable insights and hands-on training to the participants.

On Day 1, 12th June 2024, Dr. Nilesh Kumbhar, Research Associate at IIT Indore, led the sessions. In Session I, he discussed essential research tools required for effective writing, explained the structure of research and review papers, provided guidance on the appropriate use of tenses in different sections of the paper, and outlined standards for acceptable levels of plagiarism and AI detection scores. Session II covered basic concepts and understanding of AI algorithms, a hands-on demonstration of AI algorithms, an overview of modern AI tools essential for research, and a practical session on using ChatGPT for drafting titles, abstracts, and keywords.

On Day 2, 13th June 2024, Dr. Nilesh Kumbhar continued with techniques for writing introductions with proper citations using AI tools, crafting methodology sections with the assistance of ChatGPT, and utilizing AI tools for writing results and discussion sections. He also covered methods for writing impactful conclusions using AI and structuring the main body of a literature review effectively. In Session II, he discussed techniques for using AI to create visually appealing graphs, understanding the difference between paraphrasing and AI detection, and strategies to avoid plagiarism and manage AI detection scores.

On Day 3, 15th June 2024, Dr. K. S. Sowmiya Rani, Editor at Editage (Cactus Communications) and Founder, Editor, & Reviewer at Sowmis_AWW, conducted an online session. She discussed an overview of various AI tools available for scientific writing and publishing, such as Quillbot, Prezi, Canva, Dectopus, and Jenni.Ai. She also covered grant writing and provided practical training on using selected AI tools effectively.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Manoj Bramhe, HoD IT & III Coordinator, and Prof. Vikas Bhowate, Incharge of the AI department, with gratitude extended to the management for their continuous support.
