Baja SAEINDIA-2024: The Ashwa Riders Triumph

A team of 27 students from various departments at St. Vincent Pallotti College of Engineering and Technology, known as 'The Ashwa Riders,' participated in Baja SAEINDIA-2024. Led by Captain Mayur Khonde (CE) and Vice Captain Abhay Sharma (ETC), and guided by Faculty Advisor Dr. M. Saifullah Khan, and SAE Coordinator Prof. V.C. Sontake, the team showcased their vehicle, "Black Stallion XI," at NATRAX, NATRiP Facility, Pithampur, Indore, from January 10th to 13th, 2024.

The team successfully cleared technical inspection, ensuring the vehicle's safety and compliance with rulebook requirements. Brake system issues were identified during the brake test but were promptly rectified, granting clearance for dynamic events.

Static events focused on COST, CAE, and DESIGN, showcasing financial overviews, analysis, simulations, and design specifications. Despite initial brake system challenges, the team overcame and proceeded to dynamic events.

The team excelled in the acceleration test and sled pull, ranking 7th and 9th, respectively. Maneuverability attempts faced disqualification, but the team rebounded in the challenging Suspension & Traction event, securing the 8th position.

Despite leading for three hours in the Endurance Run, a rear right arm failure resulted in the vehicle stalling, finishing at the 6th position overall. The Ashwa Riders achieved remarkable rankings in various events, earning them the Fourth Runner-Up (AIR5) position in Baja SAEINDIA 2024.
