The department of Civil Engineering, St. Vincent Pallotti College of Engineering & Technology, Nagpur (SVPCET), in collaboration with the Indian Concrete Institute (ICI), Nagpur Centre installed the students’ chapter for the academic year 2023-24 on 20^th December 2023. The ceremony was graced by the auspicious presence of  Dr. Hitendra Chandewar, Chairman, ICI Nagpur centre, Er. P. P. Deshpande, Chairman Elect, ICI Nagpur centre, Er. Manoj Kawalkar, Member Governing Council, Er. Keshavrao Bhaskre, Secreataty, ICI, Nagpur centre, Er. Bhagwat Patil, member of Local Management Committee, ICI Nagpur centre and Fr. Dr. Paul Chandrankunnel, Director, SVPCET, Nagpur.

Dr. Chetan Deshpande, Head, Department of Civil Engineering, addressed the gathering and briefed the importance of the students’ chapter. Fr. Dr. Paul Chandrankunnel appreciated the initiative taken by the department and asked the students to take the best benefits of the students’ chapter. A corporate video about the formation of Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) and various activities conducted by the institute was played. Er. Manoj Kawalkar highlighted the benefits of the students’ chapter. The chapter helps the students to explore their leadership qualities as well as enhances the applied technical knowledge. He elaborated the role, activities, programs, structure, facilities and collaborations of ICI. The Chief Guest, Dr. Hitendra Chandewar, welcomed & congratulated the students for becoming members of ICI family and invited students for industrial visit on their ongoing projects. He accentuated the growth of Civil Engineering Industry in India while highlighting the various career opportunities in transforming the nation and the world. Er. P. P. Deshpande, Chairman Elect, ICI Nagpur centre, asked the students to strengthen the fundamentals of designing & detailing of civil engineering structures.

Prof. Yogesh S. Lanjewar, faculty coordinator, ICI Students’ Chapter, announced the names of student executive body members for the academic year 2023-24 and students received the respective badges and certificates at the hands of the office bearers, ICI, Nagpur centre.

The event was participated by final year, third year and second year civil engineering students. All the teaching staff members of civil engineering department were present during this installation ceremony. The event was conducted by Mr. Atharva Ashtikar, B. Tech. Second Year student and Mr. Ganesh Bhandarkar, Secretary, ICI students’ Chapter, proposed the vote of thanks. The event was coordinated by Prof. Yogesh S. Lanjewar, faculty coordinator ICI Students Chapter. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.
