Induction & Orientation Program, 2022-23
The Department of Basic Sciences & Humanities had organized a 4 day Induction & Orientation Program from 7th November 2022 to 11th November, 2022, in accordance with the guidelines as prescribed by AICTE. The aim being to reinforce the fundamental concepts, bridge the gap that exists and enable the fresh batch of students to feel welcomed and at home in their new surroundings. To welcome students in full strength on campus was a wholesome feeling for all management and staff, after having endured 2 years of online schedules due to the pandemic.
7th November, 2022, marked the commencement of the Induction program. In their inaugural addresses, Director, Dr. Fr. Paul Chandrankunnel, followed by Fr. James Thomas, Assistant Director, Principal, Dr. S. V. Gole and Prof. R. B. Gowardhan, Institute Mentor, each extended their warm welcome to the first year students into the Tech Pallottine family.
Following a short tea break, the first day continued with an enlightening session by Dr. S.V. Gole, Principal on “Human Excellence”. It gave a glimpse to the students regarding the scope of brilliance that the human mind and body possess, and can display if steered towards the correct direction.
An interactive session with the SADC coordinator came up next, which was enjoyed by the eager students. They asked a few queries, and were assured that they could approach the SADC anytime they wished.
The day ended with the much awaited College tour. Students were split into groups, each assigned to one faculty. The tour took the students around the campus covering all the floors in Block A and Block B, making them aware of departments and lab facilities. It went over to other areas like the Administration department, library, canteens, sports ground and hostels. It was a good time spent by the faculty and students knowing each other and discussing ideas, apprehensions and queries.
Day two was on 9th November, 2023. The day started with 2 hours of pre-requisite classes, from 9am to 11am. After a short tea break, the sessions focussed on introducing and familiarizing the new students with various student initiatives and projects. There were interactive sessions held by senior students and teams. The first team was the EYantra team, followed by Team AshwaRiders & SAE BAJA Team. Post the lunch break the IEDC coordinator took the floor to update students on demystifying entrepreneurship and industry. Another activity packed day came to an end with interaction with Student Coordinators of Festronix, Infinity & Inventomania.
10th November 2022, which was Day 3 of the induction and orientation schedule, started once again with 2 hours of pre-requisite classes. The next session by Fr. Dr. Paul Chandrankunnel, Director; aimed at informing, educating and aligning students to the Institutional values which have been, and will always be, the fundamentals which guide us forward. This was followed by an introduction by the Administration team, which sought to clarify the often asked question, and provide the basic information required for the student. At 3 pm, Tinkering Lab Incharge & Team took over, and briefed the students about projects at the lab and the various avenues available for the students to try the hand at.
11th November 2022 marked the last and final day of the induction orientation program. Starting with the prerequisite session, it was followed by a refreshing and valuable talk Self Analysis by Dr. S. V. Gole, Principal, SVPCET. As the college is shifting from University to autonomy, the much needed information about familiarization with Autonomy was given by Dr. N. V. Deshpande, Dean Academics, SVPCET. An energetic and informative Panel Discussion on “Enrichment During Engineering Education'' by Principal, All HOD’s & 1st Year Incharge brought the day and the program to a close.
