Inter Collegiate Chess Tournament - 12th to 14th October 2022
Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University and Department of Sports & Physical Education in association with St Vincent Pallotti College of Engineering & Technology, Gavsi Manapur, Nagpur, organized University Level Chess Tournament on 12th to 14th Oct 2022. The Inaugural programme was witnessed by the participants that numbered about 350, from various Colleges.
The programme began by invoking God’s blessings through a prayer song followed by Anthem by the students of the College. The dignitaries on the dais gave a meaningful start to the programme by lighting the lamp. Dr. Surendra Gole, the principal of the College, welcomed the gathering. Fr James Thomas and Dr. Sharad Suryawanshi competed in a friendly game of Chess, thus formally inaugurating the tournament.
The Chief Guest of the day - Dr. Sharad Suryawanshi, Director of Sports & Physical Education (R.T.M.N.U) inspired the participants of the tournament asking them to concentrate well on the game. He further said that Chess players should be well trained to be calm and confident. This game is mainly a psychological game where one should not reveal his/her intentions through expressions and body language.
The Chief Referee, Mr. Praveen Pantawane gave a brief description of the tournament to be held on the day. He appreciated and thanked the College Management for the beautiful arrangements in conducting the competition.

The dignitaries present on the dais were Dr. Sushant S. Satputaley, Mr. Abhranil Banerjee, Mr. Manoj Moray, Dr Dhiraj Bhoskar, Mr. Amit Anurag, Mrs Ashlesha Nagpure, the Sports In charge.The Students Coordinators were- Mr. Mahesh R. Deogade, Mr. Abhishek V. Kusma, Mr. Makarand M. Ghonge, Mr. Antony Jacob & other team Members.
Winners of the Chess Tournament
Boys : 1st position was taken by Shri Ramdeo Baba College of Engineering, 2nd by G.H. Raisoni College of Engineering & 3rd by Kamla Nehru Mahavidyalaya.
