Industrial Tour to INCOIS, ISRO, STPI, Hyderabad

The department of Computer Engineering had organized a three days Industrial Tour under III- Cell for Third Year students from 12th to 14th October 2022 to Hyderabad.

On 12th October 2022, students visited ESSO- Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), an Autonomous body under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. Of India. This Organization provides ocean data & related information through sustained ocean observations and constant improvements through systematic and focused research in information management and ocean modelling.  Dr. S. Shrinivasan Rao, Scientist, explained that this type of information provides round-the-clock monitoring and warning services for the coastal population on tsunamis, storm surges, high waves, etc. through the in-house Indian Tsunami Early Warning Centre (ITEWC).

On 13th October 2022, students visited National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), ISRO. NRSC has ground stations for receiving satellite data, generation of data products, dissemination to the users, development of techniques for remote sensing applications including disaster management support & Geo-spatial services for processing the data. NRSC operates through multiple campuses to meet national and regional remote sensing data and applications needs of the country. Dr. V.V. Ganesha, Head and Scientist, NRSC, summarized  that the Geo spatial services provided in Bhuvan portal disseminate satellite data of IRS sensors, satellite derived products pertaining to various themes and domains. Domains and the related project / theme specific database information are shortlisted for better visualization of the summary of information available in Bhuvan. The visit was followed by an exhibition arranged on various components of satellite along with its information.

On 14th October 2022, students visited Software Technology Park of India (STPI). STPI is committed to implement information security management system (ISMS) to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of Business information so as to provide a secure work environment.  An  introductory session was conducted by V. Rao (head of operation Data processing centre) who provided very useful information & rules on the ISMS policies.
