3 days Faculty Development Program On ”Augmented and Virtual Reality”

Department of Information Technology , St. Vincent Pallotti College of Engineering and Technology had organized a 3 days Faculty Development Program on “Augmented  and Virtual Reality”, during 22nd September 2022 to 24th September 2022. This FDP was conducted by Mr. Rahul Chute, Director & Mr. Mukesh Adhau, Dnnovate Technologies Pvt. Ltd, Pune.

The inauguration of FDP was held in the presence of management members, HOD of various colleges, faculty members and participants. The FDP was attended by 34 participants including faculty members from various colleges.

On the first day of FDP ,Mr. Rahul Chute explained the importance of augmented & virtual reality to the participants .Faculties were guided to create 3d objects in unity game engine, drawing shapes, primitives using Blender software. He also focussed on the different tools for augmenting objects using my web AR and Sketch fab tools.

On the second day of the FDP, all the participants worked with the Camera Package & Inspector Panel working on Unity. Mr. Rahul guided faculties in integrating user interactions & finally the testing of the AR application and its deployment process. During hands-on session faculty created various Mobile applications with augmenting objects and it turned out to be a thrilling experience.

All the important information regarding augmented reality & virtual reality was smoothly passed on and all queries regarding the topic were solved.

Participants also experienced the virtual world using HTC Vive headset in ARVR laboratory. On the 24th September, an online session was conducted by Mr. Sushil George, Lead Developer, Product Madness (London Studio) on different game technologies and augmented reality applications.

Second Session was conducted by Mr. Shiv Kumar Reddy and Mr.Ramesh kumar Kalimuthu, FusionAR, ARK Solutions, Pune about Unity game engine and focussed on applications areas of virtual reality. This session aims to bring industry innovators and academic leaders in the AR/VR world to discuss the problems, applications, and opportunities in AR/VR systems. In the concluding session, designing of gaming architecture and programming practical as well as tutorial list was discussed and finalized.

In the valedictory session, certificates were distributed to the participants and their verbal feedback was taken wherein most of the faculty members suggested to conduct this kind of FDP for 5-7 days.  This FDP was helpful for faculty members to train their students for designing AR applications and projects at their institution. The FDP was coordinated by Prof. Shabana Pathan and Prof. Pooja Wagh.
