BIM Training Programme Report

Civil Engineering Department, St. Vincent Pallotti College of Engineering and Technology had organized a training programme on Building Information Modeling (BIM) for its undergraduate students. BIM software module has an excellent  patronage by the Civil Engineering industry and 60 % placements of the department in 2021-2022 are in the BIM projects by various industries.

Hence, in order to make the students of successive batches industry ready, institute had planned this training programme. CAD center, Banguluru was the agency that imparted this BIM training to the students.

The fortnightly programme of 72 hours was inaugurated by Dr. S. V. Gole, Principal of the institute and Prof. R. B. Govardhan, institute mentor on 18/07/2022 at 9.00 am. Both of them voiced out their expectations from the students as well as the training agency and wished good luck to the students for their training.

The fortnightly training programme was conducted daily from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm with 1 hour lunch break in between. The students of the institute were thoroughlly trained on softwares like Revit Architecture, Revit Structures and Autodesk Navisworks. The students were asked to work on a project by the trainers and the submissions of the same were sought from them in a given time frame. Every student stretched his / her imagination and tried to submit the best in him / her.

The best 3 projects from each category of students were selected by the trainers and the students were felicitated during the valedictory function held on 30/07/2022. Fr. Dr. Paul Chandrankunnel, Director of the institute and Fr. James Thomas, Assistant Director of the institute, appreciated the work by the students and felicitated students in the valedictory function. The trainers from CAD center expressed their experiences during training programme and the best projects were presented before the dignitaries invited for the valedictory programme. Dr. C. S. Prof. R. P. Kinhikar coordinated the training programme. Prof. Y. S. Lanjewar was the Co cordinator for the training programme. 59 students and 3 faculty members from Civil Engineering Department participated the training programme as trainees.
