IT Students Industrial Tour to Hyderabad

The Department of Information Technology had organized an Industrial Tour to Hyderabad for 3rd and 4th year students from 20th to 22ndApril, 2022. 

Students visited STPI (Software Technology Parts of India), an attached office of the Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India on 20th April 2022. This office provides quality assurance services in the area of Electronics and IT through a countrywide network of broadbands and network centres. Dr. Shravya Reddy demonstrated to the students various high end networking devices and the working of an ISP.

Students visited ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) on 21st April 2022. Dr. T.S.Prasad, Scientist, briefed students on Indian Space Missions and Technological Advancement in Research and also outreach organisations working at ISRO. Students visited the ISRO Maintenance Department, Executing Department, Assembling Department Technologies, Infonet Solutions and many more showcasing their various space models and other important components like engines, navigations system, fuel system and solar panels.

A visit to LTRC lab, IIIT Hyderabad, Research Block was scheduled on 21st April 2022. Prof. Soma Paul gave brief information about IIITH and its various research domains. She also discussed about various domain specific labs such as the Speech Processing Lab, Information Retrieval & Extraction Lab, Machine Translation, Natural Language Processing Lab, etc. Mr. Ruthvikh, a PhD Research Scholar at IITH and his team shared with the students details of their research work.

This Industrial Tour was planned with an objective to provide students an exposure to new knowledge domains and advancing technologies which would help them brainstorm for their project work. This visit proved to be a great source of knowledge and learning experience for each and everyone.

Students also visited famous tourist places of Hyderabad such as Lumbini Park, Golconda fort, Snow world, Birla Temple etc.

A total number of 85 students (51 students from 3rd year and 34 students from 4th year) participated in the Industrial Tour and they were accompanied by Faculty Members, Prof. Shabana Pathan, Prof. Pooja Wagh, Prof. Ashish Palandurkar, Prof. Shankar Gadhve and Non-teaching staff, Mr. Manoj Kamble.
