Industrial visit to National Remote Sensing Centre, ISRO and Indian National Center for Ocean Information Services, Hyderabad.
The Department of Electronics and Telecommunication, SVPCET had organized an Industrial Visit to National Remote Sensing Centre, ISRO and Indian National Center for Ocean Information Services, Hyderabad on 2nd and 3rd March 2022 for students of 3rd year.
Students visited, National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) ISRO on 2nd March 2022. A senior scientist conducted a session for them on Space Research, Satellite Communication and Rockets. He also shared with the students information about Mangalyan and its successful journey, ongoing projects and how ISRO was established. Students and faculty members both appreciated the information that was imparted at ISRO.
On 3rd March students visited Indian National Center for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS). In the auditorium a short video clip was shared on the need and the purpose of INCOIS and then students were divided into 3 groups of 25 each and guided to different laboratories.
In the Potential Fishing Zone Lab (PFZ) the students were explained about the need of chlorophyll in the ocean for the fishes. In the Tsunami Early Warning System Lab (TEWS) the students were explained how tsunami is detected under the ocean and how it gets notified on their system via a software. The students witnessed one such notification during their visit to the TESW Lab. This notification was received at 11:50 am about a 5.1 scale tsunami.
In the Ocean State Forecast Lab (OSF) and Ocean Observation Group Lab (OOG) - Students were introduced to Basic/ Mini Models of Tsunami Buoy system, wave rider buoy and many other models.
Students also explored some tourist places in Hyderabad and thoroughly enjoyed gaining knowledge, sharing and learning during the Industrial visit.
The industrial visit was planned by Dr. Deepali Borakhade and was coordinated by Prof. Harish Rajurkar, Prof. Madhura Kulkarni, Prof. Shiju Samuel and Prof. Askati Rautkar. The team is grateful to Explore Junction for making all arrangements and to the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication for providing constant encouragement and support to organize such events for the students.
