Mentoring Session on Logical Thinking, Tinkering, Goal Setting and Time Management

A mentoring session was organized by the Department of Basic Sciences & Humanities in collaboration with the Skill Development Center of the College on 15th January ,2022, from 9:15 am to 1:00 pm for the students of first year on Webex platform. The idea of initiating such a session was to mentor and help students acclimate and grow with support.

The session commenced with the Induction Programme to introduce the students, The Ashwa Riders and Formula Ashwa Riders (FAR) teams under the Society of Automotive Engineers, SAE. The Ashwa Riders are a team of auto enthusiasts at SVPCET; they design and fabricate single seater off-road vehicles. During their one hour online interaction with the students they shared the link of recruitment interviews for team membership.

The next session ‘Introduction to Logical Thinking’ was delivered by Dr. Fr. A.K. George ,Professor in the Department of CE, SVPCET.  The target audience for this session were the students of section E,F,G,H &I. Students actively took part in this dynamic session which helped them to improve their ability to identify, analyze and evaluate the problems and enhance their problem solving skills.

 Simultaneously, another session was taken by Prof. A.G. Angole, Skill Development Cell, SVPCET on “Tinkering is the 1st Step Towards Technology”. The target audience for this session were the students of section A,B,C & D. Prof Angole discussed with the students that tinkering if  implemented and executed well, can be a valuable contribution to design and engineering and other academic disciplines. 

From 11:15 am to 1:00 pm , the session on “Goal Setting and Time Management” was delivered by Prof. Mamta Chhabriya, Assistant Professor, SVPCET, Psychologist, NLP Practitioner  and Prof. Ayesha Khan, Assistant Professor, SVPCET. The students were guided regrading setting their goals which gave them a long-term vision and short-term motivation also, it helped them to organize their time and resources so that they can make the most out of their life.

The students, were a wonderful audience and in the feedback form appreciated the session and looked forward to more such ones. 

Prof. Namrata Gore (Incharge, BS&H Dept.), Dr. Ashish Bodhaye (Co&Extracurricular Incharge), Dr. Kiran Khandarkar (Coordinator) and  Prof. Sonia Francis (Happiness Centre, Coordinator) put in their best efforts to organize this event.
