Webinar Report on ‘Career in Mechanical Engineering’

A webinar was conducted on ‘Career in Mechanical Engineering’ on September 22, 2021 at 11am by the Department of Mechanical Engineering for the recently pass out polytechnic students of 08 Polytechnic institutions of Maharashtra. The webinar was mainly on two broad topics 1. Avenues in Mechanical Engineering and 2. Degree after diploma – a way forward.

Prof. Shripad V. Deo spoke on the various career prospects for the diploma students after they complete their degree program. He also mentioned about the merits of the degree programs after completing diploma.

Dr. Ghanshyam R. Boob gave an insight on the design area in Mechanical Engineering. He also made the students aware of the Mechanical Engineering Design Center and its activities.

Dr. Milind P. Kshirsagar explained about the Heating Ventilation Air-conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) technology and career prospects related to that. He also shared information about the ISHRAE collegiate student chapter.

Dr. Athar Hayat spoke about the Automation Club at Pallotti. He told the students about the different skill development programs in automation and robotics conducted by the club. 

Dr. Vimal C. Sontakke carried the talk forward by engaging the students about the SAEINDIA (Society of Automobile Engineers) collegiate club and its attributes. He told the students about various students getting skilled while participating in different competitions through the same club and competing with teams from IITs and NITs.

Prof. Homeshwar G. Nagpure talked about the Entrepreneurship and Incubation Center at Pallotti. He pointed out that many students have successfully become entrepreneur while undergoing the course.

Prof. Abhranil Banerjee and Prof. Vishal Tiwari, in details, spoke about the different rounds for the admission process and various aspects to be considered during the admission process for the diploma students.

The event was coordinated by Prof. Ramanuj N. Chakraborty under the able guidance of Dr. Pramod. B. Lanjewar, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
