A Commemoration of 75th Independence day
Remembering the unconditional and numerous sacrifices made by our freedom fighters in the struggle for Independence; students, staff and management of St. Vincent Pallotti College of Engineering and Technology, Nagpur, partook in celebrating Amrit Mahotsav, the 75th Independence Day, with great fervour.
The ceremony started with the NCC contingent of SVPCET escorting the Guests to the venue. This was followed by hoisting of the National Flag and singing of the National Anthem.
Rev Fr. Dr. Paul Chandrankunnel graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. A thought provoking speech by him reminded all of the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters. Through his words, he exhorted the youth to work towards realising Rabindranath Tagore’s prayer of the country awakening into heaven of freedom.
Another event marking Amrit Mahotsav was the felicitation of 75 prominent Alumni of the college who have achieved major milestones in their career and contributed to the growth of the institution. The event was streamed live through the Youtube platform.
This was followed by singing performances by the students of the college and the distribution of awards.
Student Appreciation Awards were presented to Mr. Rahul Kavishwar who bagged the Best student (Boys) Award of RTMNU 2019 -20, Ms. Shrushti Wamne RTMNU ETC branch Topper and Gold Medallist and three IIT E -Yantra Teams Guided by Prof. Rohan Vaidya which won AIR 1st and 2nd Rank with GOLD and SILVER positions. Teaching and Non - Teaching staff were also presented with appreciation awards.
Another major event marking Amrit Mahotsav was the distribution of Ration Kits to poor and needy families. This was carried out under the aegis of Pallotti bread, an initiative by the Nagpur Pallottine society. It was carried out at the hands of Departmental HoD’s, Portfolio Incharges, students and NSS coordinators. Rev, Fr. Siju Jose gave a brief insight into the social outreach programs undertaken by Pallotti bread.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by High tea and snacks.
