The Department of Civil Engineering, St. Vincent Pallotti College of Engineering & Technology, Nagpur, in Association with Adani Cement FutureX organized online session on “The Soul of Grey: Redefining Cement through Science & Scale” by Dr. Abhishek Rai – Head Quality & R&D – Adani Cement for the students of II Year Civil Engineering on  16 September 2026.The session aimed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of modern cement technology, quality control, research, and large-scale sustainable cement production.

Dr. Rai explained the fundamental role of cement in concrete and discussed the scientific principles governing its manufacturing, composition, hydration, strength development, and performance. He highlighted the importance of raw material selection, process optimization, quality assurance, and research-driven innovations in producing consistent and high-performance cement. The speaker emphasized emerging practices in the cement industry, including resource efficiency, alternative materials, reduction of environmental impact, and sustainable manufacturing. Real-world industrial examples helped students connect classroom concepts with practical applications in cement production and construction.

The interactive session encouraged students to understand the evolving role of science, technology, and innovation in the cement sector. The talk provided valuable technical exposure and enhanced students’ awareness of current industry practices, quality requirements, and future opportunities in cement and construction technology.
