SVPCET Hosts SIH 2026 Internal Hackathon, Showcasing Student Innovation

Nagpur, 15 September 2026: St. Vincent Pallotti College of Engineering & Technology (SVPCET), Nagpur, successfully organized the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2026 Internal Hackathon on 15 September 2026 at the Block B, 2nd Floor Auditorium. The event was organized as part of the selection process for Smart India Hackathon 2026 with Dr. Deepali Borakhade as SPOC, SIH.

The hackathon received an enthusiastic response from students, with 122 teams registering and 110 teams participating, involving 660 students. The teams worked on 94 Problem Statement IDs, presenting innovative ideas and technology-based solutions to address real-world challenges.

The event was inaugurated in the presence of Dr. Fr. Paul Chandrankunnel, Director, and Dr. Prashant Maheshwari, Principal, along with faculty members, mentors, jury members and participating students. The inaugural session emphasized the importance of innovation, teamwork, experimentation and practical problem-solving.

A key highlight of the event was the interaction between students and the expert jury. The projects were evaluated by experts from Hixaa Tech, Amantya Technologies, Cojag Smart Technology Pvt. Ltd., Mechhelp Technologies Pvt. Ltd., HealthSpect 360 Venture Solutions Pvt. Ltd., TripandThrill.com and VS Informatics, along with faculty experts from SVPCET and other institutions. Their feedback gave students an opportunity to understand how their ideas could be strengthened from both technical and practical perspectives.

The teams were evaluated on problem understanding, technical implementation, innovation, feasibility and sustainability, and impact and future scope, with a total of 25 marks. After a detailed evaluation and joint discussion among the panels, 50 teams were shortlisted, including 41 teams from the Software track and 9 teams from the Hardware track. Five teams were also placed on the waiting list.

The Internal Hackathon concluded on a highly positive note, celebrating the creativity, enthusiasm and problem-solving spirit of SVPCET students. The shortlisted teams will now move ahead in the SIH selection process, carrying their ideas to the next stage with an opportunity to further develop and refine their solutions.
