Hands-on Workshop on MATLAB for Engineering Applications Programming • Data Visualization • Signal Analysis
The Department of Industrial IoT successfully conducted a five-day hands-on workshop on MATLAB for Engineering Applications from 3rd to 7th August 2026 for Second Year B.Tech. students. The workshop was designed to strengthen students’ computational thinking, programming skills, data visualization abilities, and understanding of signal analysis through a balanced Learn–Practice–Apply approach.
Major Topics Covered
• MATLAB environment, variables, operators, scripts and functions
• Arrays, vectors, matrices and mathematical operations
• 2D and 3D visualization, mesh/surface plots and graph formatting
• Conditional statements, loops, debugging and programming exercises
• Signals and Systems: standard signals, time-domain operations, energy and power
• Audio signal processing, sampling
• Application-oriented exercises and a concluding quiz
Outcome
The workshop provided students with practical exposure to MATLAB and enabled them to develop, execute, visualize, and debug engineering programs and signals. The hands-on sessions helped students connect programming concepts with engineering applications and prepared them for subsequent laboratory work, mini-projects, and advanced subjects.
