Extempore Competition for First-Year B.Tech Students (CSE-DS, ETC & R&A I)
The Department of Engineering, Sciences & Humanities organized an Extempore Competition for B.Tech first-year students from CSE (Data Science), Electronics & Telecommunication, and Robotics & Artificial Intelligence branches on 7th May 2026. The event was conducted with the objective of enhancing students’ communication skills, confidence, spontaneity, and overall presentation abilities.
Participants were given topics on the spot and were required to speak for two minutes. They were evaluated based on content, clarity, confidence, expression, and time management skills. The activity encouraged students to think quickly and articulate their ideas effectively under time constraints.
A total of 25 first-year students participated in the competition. The winners were as follows: First Prize – Stephen Dhanvajir (CSE-DS) for the topic “Life in 2050”; Second Prize – Yashashri Shinganapure for the topic “Siblings”; Third Prize – Divyanshu Bawankule (ETC) for the topic “Campus Life”; and Consolation Prize – Sarthak Pande (CSE-DS) for the topic “Life on Mars”.
The event was coordinated by Prof. Mamta Chhabriya under the leadership of Dr. Smita Tolani, HoD, ES&H. The judges for the competition were Prof. Pallavi Deshpande and Prof. Vrushali Pethe.
The competition was well received and provided a valuable platform for students to express their ideas effectively, build confidence, and improve their spontaneous speaking skills.
