B.Tech First-Year ETC & CSBS Students: Industrial Visit to CSIR–NEERI, Nagpur

The Department of Engineering, Sciences and Humanities organized an industrial visit for B.Tech first-year students of the ETC and CSBS branches to CSIR–National Environmental Engineering Research Institute, Nagpur, on 27 March 2026. The visit, coordinated by Dr. Kiran Khandarkar and Dr. Rajshree Anwane, aimed to provide students with hands-on exposure to environmental engineering technologies and applications.

The program began with an introduction to the institute’s legacy since 1958, followed by demonstrations of key innovations, including the Nalgonda defluoridation technique, Phytorid sewage treatment system, N-GNOIS noise simulation software, and the NEERI-KSHAN AQ drone. A guided tour familiarized students with ongoing research in water treatment, air quality monitoring, biofuel production, and environmental genomics.

Students observed the Electrolytic Defluoridation (EDF) system for cost-effective fluoride removal and the NEERI-KSHAN AQ drone for aerial air quality monitoring. They also explored a CETP model illustrating multi-stage wastewater treatment and a Phytorid-based unit for energy-efficient sewage management.

The visit provided practical insights into sustainable environmental technologies and their applications in both rural and industrial settings. It also exposed students to opportunities for internships, collaborative research, and skill development. Overall, the experience successfully bridged theoretical classroom knowledge with real-world environmental engineering practices.
