Entrepreneurship in Cybersecurity & Emerging Digital Safety Technologies
The Industrial IoT Department organized a workshop on “Entrepreneurship in Cybersecurity & Emerging Digital Safety Technologies” on 28 February 2026 for 4th Semester students from 2:15 pm to 4:15 pm. The session was conducted by DESCAM CYBERSECURITY LLP, with expert speakers Mr. Aditya Likhitkar, Mr. Shubham Kulkarni, and Mr. Soham Deshmukh, and was coordinated by Prof. Snehal Shingode.
The workshop focused on building awareness of cybersecurity, digital safety, and entrepreneurial opportunities in the field. The speakers discussed the growing importance of cybersecurity in the digital era, explaining real-world cyber threats and preventive measures. They also provided insights into how cybersecurity startups are developed and the scope of innovation in this domain.
A key highlight of the session was the live demonstration of cyberattack simulations, including Matrix Rain, File Folder, Ransomware, Terminal Hijack, and CPU Overload. These demonstrations helped students understand system vulnerabilities and the importance of protective mechanisms. Students were also introduced to Virtual Machines (VMs) and Operating System Images, emphasizing their use in secure testing environments.
The session further covered website phishing attacks and the importance of the HTTPS protocol, enabling students to identify secure websites and safeguard personal information. An interactive quiz at the end encouraged active participation and reinforced learning.
Overall, the workshop was informative and engaging, enhancing students’ practical knowledge and encouraging them to explore careers and entrepreneurship in cybersecurity and digital safety technologies.
