FORMULA BHARAT- IC Engine vehicle

Location: Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
Team Goal: The team’s goal was to clear the technical inspection on the first day and compete in all dynamic events thus aiming for AIR 1.
Vehicle overview: The team competed with Mirage FS7, an advanced evolution of the previous Mirage FS6, reflecting the team’s continuous efforts toward performance

enhancement, system reliability, and driver-centric improvements. The development of Mirage FS7 focused on optimizing vehicle dynamics, powertrain performance, and overall drivability based on learnings from previous competitions and testing phases.

A key technological advancement in Mirage FS7 was the implementation of a pneumatic paddle shifter system, which enabled faster and more consistent gear shifts compared to the previous manual shifting mechanism. This system improved shift precision, reduced driver workload, and enhanced overall vehicle responsiveness, particularly during dynamic events.

To further optimize powertrain performance, the team conducted a dynamometer test in Bangalore, allowing detailed analysis of engine performance under controlled conditions. The dyno testing facilitated fine-tuning of fuel maps and ignition parameters, which ensured optimized engine performance, improved reliability, and better correlation between simulated and real-world results.

To further enhance acceleration performance, the team implemented a launch control strategy through the engine management system. This system helped regulate engine speed and torque delivery during vehicle launch, minimizing wheel spin and ensuring consistent and controlled starts in acceleration events.

Additionally, the team utilized advanced software simulations such as Ricardo WAVE, enabling precise tuning for maximum performance. Additionally, tools like Optimum Lap were employed to analyse and refine the vehicle's dynamic behaviour, aiding in suspension tuning and performance optimization on track.

Day Zero (21.01.26):
The team was divided into three functional groups to ensure efficient task execution:
1. On-Site Preparation Team – Responsible for vehicle readiness, pit setup and event registration.
2. EDP Prelims Team – Focused on finalizing technical documentation for Engineering Design Presentation (EDP).
3. Market Research Team – Conducted vendor analysis in Coimbatore for emergency procurement.

On-Site Preparation: With CV team registration scheduled for 9 AM, the on-site team worked on the vehicle’s final fit and finish, including verifying the final TI checklist, BSPD calibration, and conducting a mock noise test. Post-registration, engine cranking is restricted until the engine test area is reached. The team registered all present members, unloaded the
truck, and completed the pit setup.

EDP Prelims: The EDP team at the hotel refined the presentation and conducted structured Q&A to ensure clarity and confident technical justification during evaluations along with
technical documentation.

Market Research and Procurement: The market research team identified and evaluated vendors in Coimbatore for emergency procurement, ensuring the availability of critical
components such as fasteners and other essential materials required for technical inspection compliance.
