The Department of Civil Engineering oorganized a visit to Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Rural Industrialization (MGIRI), Wardha for Third Year Civil Engineering students on 12/02/2026.

The students visited Khadi and Textiles Division, Bio Processing and Herbal Based Industries Division, Rural Chemical Industries Division, Rural Crafts, Infrastructure and Engineering Division along with Management & Systems Division.

The students learnt about how effectively MGIRI combines traditional knowledge with modern technology and training programs to promote self-employment and strengthen the rural economy.  The students received a new perspective on the role of engineers in grassroots development.

Dr. A. G. Hirekhan and Prof. Harshita Lal accompanied the students along with Mr. Raj Sonare and Prof. R. P. Kinhikar coordinated the visit.
