Guest Lecture on “Clean Energy and Environment: Challenges & Opportunities”

The Department of Engineering, Sciences & Humanities (ES&H) organized a guest lecture on 11th February 2025 titled “Clean Energy and Environment: Challenges & Opportunities.” The lecture was delivered by Dr. Nitin Labhsetwar, Chief Scientist and Chair of the Environmental Resource Planning & Management Vertical, as well as Head of Energy Resources at CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI-CSIR). Dr. Sucheta Moharir, the Head of the Department of ES&H, extended a warm welcome to all attendees.

Dr. Labhsetwar began his lecture by emphasizing how fortunate we are to be living in an era of remarkable technological advancements and abundant resources. He pointed out that while these privileges are significant, they come with the responsibility of addressing global challenges, particularly climate change. He highlighted the urgent need for action to combat climate change and its widespread effects. Dr. Labhsetwar then focused on the importance of renewable and clean energy, explaining its crucial role in achieving sustainability and environmental preservation. He emphasized that the transition to clean energy not only addresses environmental concerns but also presents exciting opportunities for innovation, job creation, and economic growth. Dr. Labhsetwar encouraged students to explore emerging fields such as renewable energy technology, energy storage systems, and sustainable resource management, which are key to shaping the future of energy.
