Guest Lecture

Department of Civil Engineering in association with ICI Students Chapter had organize Guest Lecture on topic “Construction Management: Building the future with effective planning & execution” on November 14, 2024 for the students of 4th Year Civil Engineering Department. The session aimed to provide insights into the critical aspects of construction management and its role in modern infrastructure development. The primary objective was to familiarize students with the principles and practices of construction management, the importance of effective planning and execution in construction projects. The expert was Er. Rajesh Lambe, Director NR Project Management Services, Nagpur.

Er. Rajesh Lambe shared definition and scope of construction management. The role of construction managers in ensuring project success. Overview of the project lifecycle which consists of initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure. Strategic planning and resource allocation. Creating realistic timelines and budgets. Risk assessment and mitigation strategies. The speaker discussed successful construction projects and highlighted the role of planning and execution in their achievement. The lecture concluded with a Q&A session, where students enthusiastically interacted with the speaker. Topics like career opportunities in construction management, challenges faced by construction managers, and future prospects of the industry were discussed.

The expert lecture was highly informative and inspiring for the students. It broadened their understanding of construction management and highlighted its significance in shaping modern infrastructure.
