Industrial Visit to CSIR-NEERI, Nagpur

The Department of Artificial Intelligence organized an industrial visit to CSIR-NEERI, Nagpur, on September 17, 2024, from 9:45 AM to 3:15 PM for second-year AI students, accompanied by faculty members Prof. Sachin Patil and Prof. Pinky Gangwani.

The visit began with an introductory video showcasing NEERI's work on environmental sustainability, followed by a tour of models and plans for environmental conservation. Students learned about NEERI’s data management practices and saw a sampler that purifies 16.67 L/min, highlighting advanced air purification technology.

They were particularly intrigued by the use of drones for collecting air quality data, including hexacopter and octacopter drones that can carry 1 kg and 3 kg payloads, respectively. These drones, valued at ₹7-8 lakhs, are vital for environmental monitoring.

A NEERI scientist also provided career guidance in AI and held a quiz competition, with winners receiving books. A total of 55 second-year students participated, coordinated by Prof. Priyanka Ujjainkar, along with Profs. Sachin Patil and Pinky Gangwani. Special thanks to Prof. Vikas Bhowate, Head of the Department, and the management for their support.
