10th International Day of Yoga

The 10th International Day of Yoga was celebrated with great enthusiasm on June 21, 2024, under the theme “Yoga for Self and Society.” The SADC & NSS Unit at St. Vincent Pallotti College of Engineering and Technology, supported by the principal of the college, Dr. Vijay Wadhai, took an active role in marking this significant occasion. Dr. Wadhai provided valuable insights and encouraged participation, enhancing the spirit of the event. As part of the celebration, a one-hour yoga session was organized for all teaching and non-teaching staff at the college. The session took place from 9:30 am to 10:30 am and was designed to engage participants in a comprehensive yoga practice. The event was held at the Multifacility Center in St. Vincent Pallotti College of Engineering and Technology, providing an ideal setting for the session.

Two distinguished yoga instructors led the session: Mr. Ashish Futane, a professional Chemical Engineer and a faculty member of The Art of Living for over 20 years, and Mr. Abhay Nigote, an experienced yoga teacher. Mr. Futane has extensive experience conducting various programs such as the Youth Leadership Training Program, Happiness for Youth Program, and Prison Smart Program in Nagpur. Mr. Nigote guided participants through the session with his deep knowledge of yoga practices.

The yoga session began with prayers to set a peaceful and focused atmosphere. Following this, the instructors guided participants through a systematic practice of various asanas (yoga postures), including standing, sitting, and lying poses. Throughout the session, Mr. Nigote provided detailed explanations of the benefits of each asana. He emphasized how these practices serve as precautionary measures and their role in curing various diseases. He also highlighted the overall well-being that yoga brings to individuals, stressing its importance in maintaining physical, mental, and emotional health.

The "YOGABHYAS" session was well-received by all participants, who appreciated the opportunity to learn and practice yoga under expert guidance. The celebration not only promoted the physical health benefits of yoga but also fostered a sense of community and well-being among the staff members.
