Final Year Project successfully implemented at Deepshikha Castings Pvt. Ltd.

Deepshikha Castings Pvt. Ltd., a prominent player in the central Indian casting industry, needed to improve the hardness of specific castings produced by them. The Technical Director of the company, Mr. Chandrashekhar Mankar, assigned this problem statement to one of the final year project groups from the Mechanical Engineering Department, who were seeking an industry-related problem for their final year project.

To find a solution, the group initially conducted a detailed literature survey by studying various research papers related to increasing the hardness of cast iron and identified a methodology to be tested. They performed experiments in the industry based on the studied methodology and succeeded in increasing the hardness. The Production and In-Process Incharge, Mr. Prathamesh Sakharkar, an alumnus of our college, supported the experiments and provided valuable suggestions.

This group of five students, along with their guide, presented three alternative solutions to the Technical Director of the company on May 11, 2024, at Deepshikha Castings Pvt. Ltd. They will attempt to implement the most feasible solution.

This project was conducted by final year B.Tech. Mechanical Engineering students Sahil Gedam, Onkar Satpute, Yash Basole, Bhakti Ingle, and Sudhanshu Tikhe under the guidance of Prof. Namrata Nagpurkar, Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering Department.
