Site Visit at “Gosikhurd Dam”

The industrial visit was organized for the VI semester students of the Civil Engineering Department, SVPCET, Nagpur, at Gosikhurd Dam located in Pauni, Bhandara on 22 March 2024 on the occasion of World Water day. The visit aimed to provide students with practical insights into dam construction and water management from a civil engineering perspective. A total of 40 students participated in the visit, accompanied by 03 faculty members, Dr. Satish Kene, Prof. Yogesh Lanjewar, and Prof. Uday Singh Patil.

The site visit provided crucial information about the fundamentals of a dam and their application, insight into the multi-disciplinary nature of dam construction and management, details of infiltration galleries and canal, the role of dams in water resource management, agricultural development, and sustainable energy generation.

The site visit was an enriching experience for the students. It provides them with valuable practical knowledge and exposure to the complexities of the dam and its management. The visit was made possible through the coordination and support of the dam authorities, such learning opportunities play a crucial role in shaping the future engineers and professionals in the field of civil engineering.
