Pallotti’s Vicennial Celebrations launched on Engineers’ Day

St. Vincent Pallotti College of Engineering & Technology flagged off the Vicennial Celebrations and Engineers' Day Celebrations on September 14, 2023 at Multi-facility Center of the college, in the presence of two outstanding scientists - Dr. Manimozhi Theodore, the coordinator of the ISRO-DRDO "Gaganyan Program" (India's low orbit manned spacecraft), and Dr. Millind Atrey, INOX Chair Professor of Cryogenics, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Bombay, associated with the development of Cryogenic Engine used to propel satellites into the outer space including lunar orbit.

The program was inaugurated with lighting of the lamp at the hands of dignitaries followed by Prayer and Scripture reading. The Vicennial Year logo was inaugurated at the hands of the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour.

Among other things, Dr. Atrey emphasized that "Teaching is the new way of learning” and underscored the importance of knowledge sharing. He also added that research is continuous & ongoing process. During his speech, he emphasized the need for integration of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning into engineering program.

Dr. Manimozhi in her address underlined the need for collaboration at every level. While presenting a short overview of the Gaganyan project she pointed out that it is a multidisciplinary collaborative effort involving multiple agencies including 8 different agencies of DRDO.

The Program was attended by 300 staff members and around 2000 students who enthusiastically participated and raised several queries during the technical sessions.
