Exploring the Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Oceanography and Remote Sensing: A Transformative Industrial Visit
The Department of Artificial Intelligence embarked on a two-day industrial visit from June 22nd to 23rd, 2023. Accompanied by Prof. Pooja Wagh, the 26 students explored the practical applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in oceanography and remote sensing.
Their first stop was the Indian National Center for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS). The students gained insights into oceanographic research and AI's role in processing vast amounts of data for weather prediction and environmental analysis. They witnessed advanced technologies like the Ocean Drone and Research Floats.
At the Indian Space Research Organization National Remote Sensing Center (ISRO NRSC), the students discovered how AI techniques enhance satellite data analysis. They were impressed by live demonstrations of satellite data processing and engaged with scientists on image processing projects.
Overall, the industrial visit provided students with invaluable knowledge and expanded their understanding of AI's significance in oceanography and remote sensing. The Department expressed gratitude to INCOIS and ISRO NRSC for their hospitality, preparing students for future AI endeavors.
