Disaster Management Seminar: Empowering Students with Essential Skills and Knowledge

National Service Scheme (NSS), and Department of Information Technology, had organised a two-day seminar on Disaster Management on June 13th and 14th, 2023, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm for all branches second-year students. Dr. Ashlesha Nagpure and Prof. Priti Golar welcomed the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) following team personnel. PI Bhajane, PSI Daware , PSI Dhurat, HC Hadave, NPC Chakole, NPC Nilesh Mundhe, PC Ahire, PC Wagh, PC Thakur , PC Thakare , NPC Devkate, PC Maskar.

Day 1: PI Bhajane gave a brief session on the meaning of SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) and their work. He discussed the various types of disasters and the pre- and post-effects they have on human life. PSI Dhurat explained the importance of preparedness and response in disaster situations. NPC Nilesh Mundhe provided hands-on training on CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation), a crucial first response technique for heart attack cases. The team also conducted practical sessions on different bandaging techniques. The day concluded with the national anthem.

Day 2: The second day followed a similar format. Additional topics included an introduction to water safety, water safety methods, equipment, and non-contacting methods. Students learned how to use life jackets, lifebuoys, and ropes in various situations. The SDRF team was felicitated with a token of appreciation, and the session ended with the national anthem.
