The department of Mechanical Engineering organized a visit to Shivam Foods, Umred Road, Nagpur, 7th February 2023. 39 Students of the 8th semester visited the industry under the supervision of Prof. Namrata A. Nagpurkar, Assistant Professor, Mechanical engineering department.

"Shivam foods" is the manufacturer of Parle-G biscuits and cookies in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Mr. Shivam Petkar, the visit In-charge of Shivam Foods guided the students during the visit.

The students observed the Automation involved in the Production of manufacturing the biscuits and cookies in the plant. They observed automation elements for transfer of work-in-process right from the flour to the packed biscuits. The physical elements like drives, sensors, processor and actuators used in automation were noted. The types of lines and the cycle time were noted. The entire plant was automatically controlled by PLC.

The visit was helpful for the students to understand Automation in Production of the food process industry.
