The Industry Institute Interaction cell, Department of Mechanical Engineering had organized a visit to Shivam Foods, Umred Road, Nagpur on 7th October 2022. 34 Students of the 5th semester, section A, visited the industry under the supervision of Prof. Namrata A. Nagpurkar, and Prof. M. K. Bhadke.

"Shivam foods" is the manufacturer of Parle-G biscuits and cookies in Nagpur, Maharashtra. They produce nearly 65-70 tons of Parle-G biscuits and 15-20 tonnes of Parle-G cookies per day.

Mr. Shivam Petkar, the visit In-charge of Shivam Foods guided the students during the visit. Initially, he showed them a video of the production process and later students witnessed every process from mixing the ingredients to dough making, moulding, heating, cooling and packaging at the plant. The entire plant was automatically controlled by PLC.

The visit was helpful for the students to understand automation and control of the food process industry.
