Guest session of Mr. Raghav Mundhra

A guest session of Mr. Raghav Mundhra, B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, currently pursing MS in Mechanical Engineering at IIT Kharagpur was organized on March 5th, 2020, through Skype. Prof. Abhranil Banerjee coordinated the same for 60 students of First Year Department.

Mr. Raghav Mundhra spoke on various aspects of engineering education. In his session, he said that Engineering can also be treated as an equation which has various constants like CGPA, Assignments, exams, laboratory journals etc. variables like skills, personality, technical competency etc.

During his talk, he also spoke about the importance of attending lectures, practicals and staying connected with the professors. He shared his experience being a student of Mechanical Engineering at Jadavpur University, Kolkata. Mr. Mundhra said a student should be honest in his assignment and on-time completion of such works helps a student to develop professional ethics. While sharing one of his experience during graduation, he suggested students should not run for securing marks but knowledge. In his view, knowledge is the best gift during the academic tenure of a student.

He also spoke on the importance of different technical skills necessary for students. He stressed on interdisciplinary projects and asked students to develop their soft skills since most companies during campus placement drives evaluates them on this basis. In his view, if a student is passionate to know more or to explore science, he must opt for Research. He stated, it’s a self-satisfaction driven module which needs lots of patience and dedicated work.

End of the session, many students clarified their doubts related to research and industry. He was enthusiastic answering all these queries.
